What more does one need when staying at a fine establishment like The Sukhothai in Bangkok?
Driving up the pathway towards the main entrance and lobby, the calmness & serenity start to wash over guests, giving an indication and taste of what is to come and to be expected.
Check in is quick, easy, professional & effective, and soon afterwards a porter shows guests to their rooms. A walk through the inner courtyard at night appears almost magical & relaxing thanks to effective lighting.
The rooms are a decent size, decorated in a dark & wooden theme. All the standard features like a coffee machine, toiletries, safety box, fridge, drinking water, etc are present, as well as an interesting & exotic fruit which is provided daily, along with an information card about that fruit.
The breakfast is also surprisingly not so crowded and therefor feels relaxing and gives guests a good start to their day.
The selection of food and range of dishes available are not excessive and huge, but of high standard and quality, and most of it is prepared on demand. The juice and smoothies are made to order, as well as the selection of eggs at the egg station. I was impressed to see the small yoghurt pots were made of organic products and packaged in biodegradable tubs.
The breakfast staff are friendly, chatty and very accommodating, which makes the breakfast experience even more enjoyable and special.
There is also a very impressive gym which is very well equipped with almost any machine and weights one could possibly need. There are even 2 trainers on duty to help and advise.
The pool area is something else ~ another serene & calm area to unwind and relax. Hardly any kids, or noisy crowd having drinks in the afternoon - just day beds, drinks, blue sky and an inviting pool.
The main reason why I will return to this hotel is the calm & serenity atmosphere. Guests cannot help but to relax and unwind, and also the clientele here is more sophisticated and low key, and all of this contribute to a very pleasant and relaxing experience!
