Moxy Osaka Honmachi, Osaka, Japan
This hotel is definitely something else ~ and guests will either love it or hate it!

The hotel is located between 2 underground train stations, Sakaisuji Hommachi Station and Kitahama Station. It is almost dead center between these two stations, so it is an equal walking distance from both stations.
It is a big & new building, so actually quite visible, and added to that, the music will also be a give away that it is the right place.
We arrived & checked in on a Friday night, and upon entering the lobby, it gives off more of a club/bar vibe than a hotel. On weekends live DJ’s perform, and the lobby basically converts in a hang out for guests and locals, with a bar, live music, some food, seating areas and a fuzz ball table.
The check in was quick and effortless, with the staff being very competent in communicating in English. Guests make their own way up to the rooms without being accompanied by hotel staff.
The room was nice and big, with optional foldable tables and chairs hung on the walls which can be used as needed.
The color scheme is modern and funky, with basic amenities like toiletries, robes and slippers. The rooms are not equipped with mini fridges or room safety deposit boxes.
Our room included breakfast, which is reminiscent of a cafeteria, with some hot dishes, juice, coffee, fruit and yoghurt available for self help. Seating and dining area is a bit limited, so guests might have to wait a bit to find a table to their liking. Afterwards, guests are required to drop off the metal plates and cups, cutlery and food at the designated areas ~ no waiters, only one or two to make sure the dishes are stocked.
It is a decent and new hotel at an affordable price, and compared to the general standards in Japan, the rooms are spacious and comfortable to stay for a few nights.
The hotel might not appeal to everyone though, as it felt like it is aiming a bit towards the younger tourists with its affordable rates, less is more, no frills approach ~ and don’t forget the party vibe on weekends!
Well worth checking out for the adventurous travelers looking for something a bit different!
