Hotel Pullman, Cologne, Germany
The Hotel Pullman Cologne in Germany is a stately and stylish old lady still providing top comfort, class and convenience in the city center.
The hotel has been renovated with modern fittings and comes with all the basic necessities and comfort that modern day travelers expect from hotels.
It is walkable distance from the main train station in Cologne, but it is best to keep in mind that there are stretches of cobbled streets and sidewalks, so it might not be the most comfortable and easiest walk. For first time visitors to Cologne, I think it might be easier to make use of a taxi to get to the hotel the first time, and once familiar with the surroundings and directions, most places of interest are within walking distance ~ this includes public transportation such as buses and trams as well.
Check in was quick and effortless, they had most of the paperwork prepared beforehand, and within minutes we were making our way up to the rooms.
The hotel has a bar and restaurant on the ground floor - this is also where the breakfast is served in the mornings. There is also a spa and small workout area on the first floor.
A nice touch is the glass elevator providing some nice views of the city and surrounding area when going up and down, but don’t worry, there are also the more traditional and less exotic standard elevators as well.
The rooms are a decent size, not huge, but it will suffice for a few days. The beds are big and comfortable, the mini bars are stocked along with the standard free water and tea & coffee facilities.
There are also multiple outlets for technological gadgets, a safety deposit box, wifi and all the standard toiletries are provided as well. The bathroom was showing a bit of wear and tear - but nothing too serious that will take away from the comfort or experience.
Our room had a nice view of the Cologne Dom, which was something to be seen, despite the dreary weather while we were there.
The breakfast was really something impressive, and almost anything you could think of was available ~ an egg station and hotel dishes, a wide selection of breads, fruit, cheese, cold meats, teas & coffees, juices, yoghurts, cereals & oats, even a Wellness section and some sparkling wine for those inclined to kickstart their day!
I enjoyed the friendly and efficient service at this hotel, good standards and convenience of the facilities, as well as a decent location close to the main station and pedestrian shopping areas and would gladly stay here again.
