Metropolitan by Como, Bangkok, Thailand

Excellent customer service is the motto & promise of this hotel and they definitely live up to it!

The attention to detail is simply impressive and the smallest little things are thought of & implemented to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay. One simple example is that they had a stack of towels ready at the front door when it started to rain for guests returning slightly wet!

I stayed at the Metropolitan for 5 nights, and this was by far the best & overall consistent high level of service that I have ever experienced in a hotel - from the bellboys to the front desk staff to the dining waiters all the way through to the housekeeping staff, pool attendants and spa personnel. I was seriously impressed when on the third day two of the staff members remembered my surname as well as room number and greeted me by my name.

The location was perfect for me - close enough to reach Silom area for shopping, dining & bars with a 5-10min walk, but still removed from the hustle & bustle to forget that you are still actually in a city. Shuttle services are provided from the hotel to the Sala Daeng BTS station every hour, but only dropping guests off at the station, not picking up.

I arrived & checked in after midnight - and still received a warm and friendly welcome despite the ungodly hour - cold facecloth and welcome drink while the mostly prepared paperwork was being sorted out and some basic information about the hotel explained.

When I made my way up to the room, the bellboy was already standing by the room waiting to deliver my luggage. I was quickly showed around the room and everything met my expectations - the room was a bit on the small side, but I did reserve the cheapest room and I would like to believe that this room is for solo travelers - I think it might be a tad bit tight for 2 people.

The room comes with most of the amenities one would like to see in a room, ample water bottles, more than other hotels, but it is glass by the way, so cannot be taken out when leaving the hotel for a day of shopping or sightseeing.

There is also tea and coffee for in the room, and please take not that it is not only instant coffee, but a Nespresso machine and some pods. They also provide your own personal yoga mat for the duration of your stay, a safety deposit box, an umbrella and the most fragrant toiletries that will conjure up exotic Thai images just from the smell & aroma itself!

Everything in the room is high quality & top standards, the towels, the bedding, the beds - only thing to take note of is that the air condition is cold, and I mean it, especially at night - this might lead to uncomfortable throats and sinuses in the morning.

The rooms are cleaned & made up daily, as well as turned down at night - curtains closed, bed opened and prepared, glass and water placed next to the bed, as well as a room service menu placed on the bed in case guests would like to have their breakfast delivered in the morning ~ just hang the menu on the door handle when going to bed.

Breakfast is served in the Glow restaurant and the set up is slightly different from the standard hotels in Thailand. The main courses are ordered from a menu which is divided into standard breakfast fare and more healthy options ~ all of this unlimited of course. The rest are all self help buffet style - yogurts, fruit, bread, cheese and a selection of cold meats.

I had the healthy fruit salad with lemongrass dressing daily and can highly recommend this - very tasty and healthy.

The restaurant manager and the service staff are excellent - friendly and extremely helpful - they make an effort to remember the names of guests and their orders which I found impressive.

Nahm restaurant is located on the ground floor, and was placed 5th in the Top 50 Restaurants in Asia for 2017 ~ with a Michelin star chef in the kitchen.

Furthermore there are just so much that the hotel has to offer….

A spa with some impressive treatments available using high quality cosmetics…

A well equipped gym with a personal trainer that can be booked for free, a yoga studio with daily classes, and a shower area with a steam room and jacuzzi.

The pool is something to enjoy visually as well as physically ~ the day beds next to the pool are just so comfortable and the water cool, perfect to relax and cool down after a day of shopping & sightseeing.

This is by no means a cheap hotel, but also not unaffordable ~ obviously you get what you pay for and in this case it is comfort, quality, high standards and excellent customer service.

This hotel comes highly recommended and I cannot wait to stay here again!
